Ghana to host Europe’s conference on digital rights

Accra, Dec. 12, GNA – Ghana will from December 14 and 15, host Europe’s largest conference to deliberate on issues relating to digital rights, health, content creation, maker space, data, access, future technologies and women in technology.
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology (MESTI), the first ever on the African Continent, the conference is dubbed the « Next level » and will be held at the Round Pavilion, Trade Fair, Accra.
These were contained in a press release signed by Mrs Levina Owusu, Acting Chief Director of MESTI and copied Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday.
About 450 participants from both national and international would be attending the two day conference.
The Conference, it said, would have 80 sessions and speakers from 22 African countries among whom is Ghana and it is expected to help shape and promote discourse on digitization and social transformation.
Ghana would be represented by the Ministry of Environment, which would host a panel discussion on the theme; « Agbobloshie-Discovering value of E-waste through innovation ».
It said diverse groups of stakeholders from areas such as innovation, creation and anthropology would discuss E-waste as a resource, focusing on the future scenarios that promote digital solutions with social added value.
« Ghana will also use the conference to explore the potential of E-waste as a resource for new products and the role of the Old Fadama Scrap Yard as a place of resource-mining, » it added.
