Agona West MP donates 3,000 hand sanitizers to Police and others

Mrs Cynthia Morrison, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection has donated 3,000 alcohol based hand sanitizers and other sanitary items to the security forces and other organizations in the Sweden Area.
The forces include the Police, Fire, Ghana Immigration Service and others, to combat the COVID-19 infection.
Other beneficiaries are Agona West Polling Station executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), market women, transport unions, chiefs, public institutions, churches, Muslim communities and civil society organizations.
The other sanitary items were 250 veronica buckets, 250 gallons of liquid soap, and 250 boxes of tissue papers among others.
Addressing the Media, Mrs Morrison who is also the Member of Parliament for Agona West, said the donation of the sanitary items formed part of the critical measures put in place by President Akufo-Addo to stop the spread of COVID-19 infection.
She appealed to the people not to joke with the disease because it was real and assured them that the government was fully committed to take serious measures to protect Ghanaians.
The Gender Minister urged residents of Agona West to regularly and thoroughly wash their hands with soap under running water and or clean with an alcohol-based hand sanitizers to reduce the spread of the virus.
She called on the people in the Area to continue to observe the directives instituted by health experts and President Akufo-Addo, adding that it was important for all to ensure total compliance of the measures to avoid possible lockdown of the whole country.
The Minister urged Ghanaians to cultivate the culture of cleanliness even after the dangerous Coronavirus infection was over.
Mrs Morrison commended the people of Agona West and the entire nation for their humility to heed the call by President Akufo-Addo to observe the national day of prayer and fasting to seek the favour of God against Coronavirus infection.
She stated that it was important for Ghanaians to continue to pray for God’s intervention, while they observed the protocols to contain the infection.
The Gender Minister urged parents not to use the break of schools to send their children out to sell on the streets because it could expose them to the virus.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) George Adanye of Agona Swedru Divisional Police Command, who received the items on behalf of the Divisional and Regional Commanders thanked the MP for the kind gesture.
DSP Adanye said the Police Personnel would assist to ensure compliance with the directives issued by the President to curb the spread of COVID-19 infection.
He said the Police and other Security Agencies in the Agona West Municipality were on high alert and would not compromise their work.
