  22 Juillet      48        Santé (15361),

BUCHANAN, July 20 (LINA) – Grand Bassa County Clinical Supervisor, John Geedeh, has assured the preparedness of health centers across the county in combating the Coronavirus and other diseases in the country,

Grand Bassa County has a population of over 250, residents and 34 health facilities, including a referral Hospital in the capital Buchanan.

Mr. Geedeh’s assurance comes weeks after the County Health Team (CHT) declared the County free of the Coronavirus after all ten COVID-19 cases were declared healed after numerous tests conducted during their isolation period.

The discharge of patients placed Grand Bassa in the « green zone » of the Coronavirus, but with caution from Information Minister Lenn Eugene bNagbe and county health authorities for citizens to abide by all health protocols instituted by the Health Ministry and NPHIL.

However, the Clinical Supervisor cited inaccessible road network leading to health centers in the rural areas as a major challenge, but assured that health workers are still consistent in providing timely healthcare to citizens and residents in the eight health districts.

« We have trained health workers and there are good facilities to host patients in the county, » he pointed out.

Speaking to reporters in Buchanan at the weekend, Mr. Geedeh said there are guidelines to follow in identifying COVID-19 signs and symptoms, and thereby providing treatment for those who might have come down with the virus; a strategy which, he said, enhances service delivery at health centers.

According to him, at first, health workers were not knowledgeable of how to respond to COVID ovid-19 cases, but noted that the medical training acquired from the Ministry of Health, NPHIL and partners, have strengthened them.

He pleaded with citizens to prioritize speedy access to accredited hospitals and clinics in the County when they experience signs and symptoms of the virus for early treatment.
