Mindelo, Aug 5 (Inforpress) – The lawyer for Venezuelan citizen Alex Saab confirmed that they will appeal against decision of the Barlavento Court of Appeal on the extradition of the Venezuelan to the United States of America in order to be tried in that country.
“We were notified of the court’s decision yesterday (Monday) and we have a period of ten days to deliver the appeal and we will do it in time,” said João do Rosário to Inforpress. According to the same source, the Barlavento Court of Appeal decision “did not please” the defense, since “there is no crime and no reason for extradition”.
The three judges of the Barlavento Court of Appeal, in a July 31 ruling, decided on the extradition of Venezuelan citizen Alex Saab Nain Moran to the United States of America in order to be tried in that country.
According to the judgment to which Inforpress had access, in the USA the Venezuelan citizen, a native of Colombia, is going to be tried for eight crimes, one of “conspiracy to commit money laundering” and seven of “laundering of monetary instruments” referenced in the charge sheet and in the request made by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
