MONROVIA, Jan. 14 (LINA) – The Minister of Education D. Ansu Sonii has apologized to President George Weah for the embarrassment caused during the President’s visitation to the D. Tweh High school located in the Borough of New Kru Town on Bushrod Island, Monrovia.

On Wednesday January 13, it can be recalled that President Weah condemned the learning condition of students at the D. Tweh High School, terming the learning environment as “unacceptable”.

The Liberian leader decried the condition of students across the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS) when he visited five public schools across Montserrado County and gave the MOE 72 hour ultimatum to address the issue.

« This is unacceptable, these kids deserve better learning facilities, », said President Weah.

He challenged the students to remain focused, cautioning them to take their studies seriously as it is the surest way of becoming future leaders of the country, including President.

Min. Sonii, who spoke at the regular press briefing of the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism on Thursday, noted that the MOE apologized not just for the job but because it’s wrong doing an embarrassment to the President during his tour.

Sonii added that they are working within the 72 hours to complete the auditorium of the D. Tweh High School as instructed by the President.

Meanwhile, Min. Sonii commended the President for the 100,000 arm chairs promised to all MCSS schools across Montserrado County, citing that it will help ease the challenges in sitting capacity being faced within the school system
