Praia, Jan 15 (Inforpress) – The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, said Thursday, that it is necessary to pay attention because democracy is something that is not acquired and pointed out, populism and excess of demagogy in the politics as risks and threats.
In a conversation with journalists at the end of the solemn commemorative session of January 13, Freedom and Democracy Day in Cabo Verde, the head of the Government defended, therefore, that democracy must be increasingly stronger to respond to these attacks existing a lot around the world, but also in Cabo Verde.
“We have to take care, improve, protect, especially in relation to some risks and threats have to do with populism, excess of demagogy in the political activity, with radical speeches, sirens’ songs and promise many things and facilities, especially in situations of difficulties and crises like the ones we are experiencing and then there is no content in terms of solutions in terms of answers”, he warned.
The Head of Government stated that democracy and freedom must provide instruments for citizens to use and distinguish when they are called and then do their thing.
