  26 Janvier      27        Société (45064),

GBARNGA, Jan. 25 (LINA) – Six community-based organizations (CBOs) in Bong County have benefitted from a five-day training of trainers (TOT) workshop in Gbarnga, Bong County.

They include Bong Disabled Association, Quake Enterprise and Palala Youth Association.

Speaking to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) over the weekend following the training, the Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Self-Help Development

Initiative (ASHDI), which organized the training, Madam Cynea Ireland, said the exercise was aimed at building the capacity of community-based groups in the county in the areas of proposal writing, developing group vision and mission, among others.

Madam Ireland noted that as an organization, ASHDI has observed that many community-based organizations (CBOs), including advocacy groups, are finding it extremely difficult to benefit from donor founding due to lack of knowledge to set up clear vision and mission plan that will attract partners.

She said with adequate facilitation by her organization and positive response from participants during the training, community-based organizations in Bong County will begin to impact their various communities through development projects.

In remarks, former Bong County Senator and Consultant of ASHDI, Franklin O. Siakor, said the training also seeks to provide full insight into how CBOs can be able to sort out challenges and develop proposals that will help them address constraints faced by community dwellers.

Meanwhile, Mr. Siakor is calling on donor partners to continue providing financial aid forCBOs in order to empower them to help Government achieve its development agenda.

In remarks, some of the participants, including Korto Flomo of the Bong County Disabled Association, lauded ASHDI for the training, describing it as « an eye opener » for community-based groups.

She added that the training will help to transform their respective organizations.

The week-long event brought together over 30 participants from six CBOs in Bong County.
