  9 Février      43        Société (45064),

SINJE TOWN, Feb. 8 (LINA) – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA)

Grand Cape Mount County detachment has arrested several suspected drug dealers in the county.

The suspects, who were arrested over the weekend, include two females and four males.

Making the disclosure on Monday, February 8, at his Bo Waterside office, the LDEA Commander, Agent Thomas Saye, said the suspects were arrested during a vigorous raid.

According to Agent Saye, five of the six suspects were nabbed in the City of Robertsport during an operation launched by the LDEA code named: ‘Operation Save Robertsoprt City. »

The Grand Cape Mount County LDEA Commander further disclosed that prior to the raid the Agency received a tip-off from residents within the city limits that there was an increase in drug activities in the city.

He indicated that it was a tip-off by residents along with LDEA’s own intelligence that led to the launch of ‘Operation Save Robertsport’ which, eventually resulted in the arrest of the alleged drug dealers.

Agent Saye informed newsmen that drugs confiscated from the suspects include Cocaine, Heroin and Marijuana with a street value of about 1.07 million Liberian dollars.

He named those arrested as Moore James, aged 32, Decontee Chae, aged 40, Helena Joe, and Seidu Wilson all of whom are Liberians.

Others are Joseph Gray, a Nigerian. 23, and Bestman Sumo, a Liberian who according to Agent Saye, was arrested at the Gbah Checkpoint while on his way to Montserrado County.

The LDEA Commander said the six suspected drug dealers have been placed behind bars at the agency’s Grand Cape Mount County head office in Bo Waterside awaiting court trial.

Meanwhile, the LDEA County Commander is calling on citizens and residents of the county to discourage drug use by reporting drug dealers or traffickers in their communities.

He said if that is done the issue of drugs trafficking and sale will be reduced in the communities.

Drug trafficking has in recent times increased in Grand Cape Mount County after a significant drop in cases following the closure of the border with Sierra Leone due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

A week ago, four alleged drug dealers were sent to the Robertsport Central Prison after they appeared before the Tienii Magisterial Court.
