Accra, July 18, GNA – Legon Cities defeated Techiman Eleven Wonders 3-2 in the last match of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) to maintain their league status.

Substitute Matthew Anim scored the decisive goal for the Royals as they secured all three points to move them away from the relegation zone into 13th position on the league table.

Eleven Wonders started the game in blistering fashion as George Osei Amponsah gave them the lead in the eight-minute with a thunderbolt from 25-yards with goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda rooted to his spot.

The away side were very impressive with their passing as they looked the more likely to get the next goal with the home side stunned after going a goal down.

Hans Kwofie came close in restoring parity for the home side but his header at goal was feeble as Eleven Wonders goalkeeper Abdulai Ibrahim safely gathered.

Legon Cities after a long spell of pressure pulled parity through Francis Addo who headed in from close range in the 34th minute after a delightful cross from Jonah Attuquaye.

But it was the away side who took the lead on stroke of halftime after Abass Ganiu curled in a superb left-foot strike into the top right corner.

With Legon Cities desperately in need of the three points, they started the second half on the front foot as they searched for the equalizer.

Hans Kwofie deservedly restored parity for the home side in the 53rd minute with a calm finish inside the penalty box.

Substitute Matthew Anim Cudjoe took the lead for the home side two minutes later with beautifully curled effort inside the penalty box.

Legon Cities were in cruise control of the game as they searched for the cushion goal heading into the late stages of the game.

Eleven Wonders barely threatened in the second half as they seemed content in keeping the ball without making any attacking incursions.

Legon Cities held on solidly onto the lead as they secured all three points at the end of the match.
