MONROVIA, May 18 (LINA) – The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with USAID and Google to provide a Metro Fiber Ring in and around Monrovia and suburban areas to support e-government programs.
This disclosure was contained in the ministry’s 2016 annual report released recently.
According to the report, the project is being funded by USAID and will bring faster, more reliable and affordable high speed Internet services to residents of Monrovia and its environs.
The report said affordable and high quality broadband Internet connections in and around Monrovia will provide more opportunities for businesses, educational institutions, hospitals, clinics, banks, and other institutions in delivering faster and better services.
The report noted that USAID and the ministry agreed to digitize Liberia through the e-government platform to cover critical ministries, agencies, the University of Liberia and other critical institutions identified by the Government of Liberia.
