Praia, Sep 3 (Inforpress) – The Guinea-Bissau ambassador considered that the Guinean community in Cabo Verde has been “very affected” by the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, recognizing the national authorities’ support for these citizens who they also lost their jobs.

According to Mbála Alfredo Fernandes, in statement to Inforpress, the Bissau-Guineans, namely those who work in civil construction, catering and surveillance services are the ones that “suffer the most” from the pandemic crisis.

“The first focus of our attention was immediately Boa Vista Island, where, at first, we had 27 Guineans who were quarantined in the Rio Caramboa and Palace Hotel hotels,” said the representative from Bissau in Praia.

According to him, the crisis caused by the pandemic not only affected the Guineans’ family structure, but also employment, which leads people to complain that they do not have “sufficient means” to acquire materials for the COVID-19 prevention.
