Amenfi West and Central district Assemblies undertake massive disinfection exercise

Asankragua (W/R), April 8, GNA- Wassa Amenfi West and Amenfi Central District Assemblies have embarked on massive disinfection exercise in markets, lorry stations, drains and other public places in the two district assemblies to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the districts.

In all, about 25 markets and lorry stations in the two assemblies including, Manso Amenfi, Asankraqua, Kwabeng, Adjakaamanso were sprayed to prevent the spread of the COVID- 19 pandemic.

Traders, drivers, and other stakeholders complied with the directives to stay away from the market and other spraying centres.

The exercise was jointly undertaken by the Zoomlion Ghana Limited, NADMO and the two districts health directorates.

Mr. George Agyiri, Amenfi West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) said the disinfection exercise was to help stem the spread of COVID-19 in the two assemblies and in Ghana as a whole.

He therefore commended President Akuffo Addo for the measures put in place and timely response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana.

He thanked the traders, drivers and other stakeholders for complying with the directives, which ensured a successful exercise.

Mr. Patrick Hackson Amponteng, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amenfi Central, thanked the President as well as the Ghana Health Service for the pragmatic measures put in place to fight against the disease.

He asked that the public, especially transport operators and traders to adhere to the social distancing directives and handwashing with medicated soap under running water.

He said the fumigation of the markets in the various Communities would be done on a regular basis, adding that through the Information Services Department, the assembly would intensify its public education on the preventive measures.
