Accra, April 11, GNA – Captain Amos Addai scored from the penalty spot in second half added time as Ashantigold SC beat Hearts 1-0 in match-day 19 encounter of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League played at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.

Hearts missed the opportunity to go level on points with Great Olympics at the top of the league log while the Miners moved to eight position with 26 points.

Hearts started the game the better side and were awarded a penalty kick by Referee Gabriel Opoku Arhin after a foul incident in the penalty box.

Victor Aidoo who had a perfect record from 12 yards in this season’s league shockingly had his penalty saved by Ashantigold goalie Kofi Mensah.

The game was fairly balanced with Ashantigold keeping more of the ball in the opening half hour but couldn’t create any clear cut chances.

Sammed Mohammed came close for the home side in the 38th minute but his effort from the free-kick couldn’t pose any threat to Benjamin Mensah who was making his second appearance of the season for the Phobians.

The first half ended in a stalemate.

Hearts of Oak started the second half like they did in the first as they pressed for the opening goal.

Ashantigold goalkeeper Kofi Mensah was far the busier of the two goalkeeper pulling up some brilliant saves when called upon.

Hearts did create some good opportunities in the second half but most of their efforts went wide.

The home side did have the last laugh after Referee Gabriel Opoku adjudged a handball incident against Hearts Captain Fatawu Mohammed.

Amos Addai stepped up and fired the ball past Benjamin Mensah as the Miners secured all three points.
