Kwahu- Nkwatia (E/R), April 10, GNA- Odehyie Nana Kofi Boamah of Kwahu Nkwatia has donated sanitary items worth thousands of Ghana Cedis to Nkwatiaman in the Eastern Region to support the fight against the COVID- 19 pandemic in the Kwahu Nkwatia area.
Among the items donated were paper tissues, Veronica buckets, containers of liquid soaps and hand sanitizers.
At a short ceremony to present the items on behalf of Odehyie Nana Kofi Boamah, the Krontihene, Nana Odei Tutu Ababio II, said providing the health needs of the inhabitants had been the utmost priority of Odehyie Nana Boamah, hence the donation.
He said a lot has been done by corporate entities and some natives of Nkwatia, but there was more to be done to help promote proper personal hygiene practices among the people of Nkwatia.
Nana Ababio said the community had put measures in place to avoid the spread of the COVID-19 by positioning sanitation kits at vantage points.
Nana Ababio was thankful to God and the people, that so far there had not been any case of COVID- 19 in the Kwahu area and was hopeful the items provided would help to reduce the risk of exposing inhabitants to the disease.
He therefore advised the people to adopt the habit of frequent hand washing to enable them to stay healthy and to avoid any kind of diseases.
In a related development, Odehyie Nana Kofi Boamah also donated 15 LED streetlight bulbs to the community to provide light in the community.
Receiving the items on behalf of the community, Madam Afua Sapongmaa, a Unit Committee Member, thanked Odehyie for the gesture and called on other natives of Kwahu Nkwatia to come and support the community.
She assured that the committee would ensure that the items were positioned at vantage areas to benefit all the inhabitants.
