Praia, Jan 7 (Inforpress) – The Banco de Cabo Verde (BCV) announced today, in a statement, that it will put into circulation, as of January 8, a new 200 Escudos banknote made with cotton substrate.
In the statement sent to Inforpress it is read that the new 200 Escudos banknote arises from the Banco de Cape Verde’s decision to standardize the 2014 banknote family, in circulation, made with cotton substrate.
“Thus, given the centenary of the birth date of the Cabo Verdean doctor and writer Henrique Teixeira de Sousa (1919-2019) and the need to reinforce the denominations of 200 Escudos, the 200 Escudos banknote was reformulated in polymer” , it explains.
With a cotton substrate, the new banknote brings on the back a perspective of the Island of Fogo volcano, where the honored writer’s action in favor of minimal public health structures was remarkable.
With a renewed appearance, continues the same source, the banknote incorporates technological advances that provide greater safety and durability, with reduced costs and impact on the environment, and facilitate the recognition of integrity and handling by the public.
