Basketball: Angola to take part in NBA – Africa league

Luanda, February 28 (ANGOP) – Angola is part of a group of twelve African teams that will participate in South Africa in the NBA-Africa basketball league in 2020, said Wednesday in Luanda, the ex-NBA star Dikembe Mutombo.
The ex-NBA power forward born in the Democratic Republic of Congo was speaking to journalists after an audience granted by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
Dikembe Mutombo presented to the Angolan Head of State projects for Angola in the areas of sports, education and health, as well as philanthropic actions that have been dedicated in his country and in some African states.
On his third visit to Angola, the ex- basketball player has been working with sports authorities.
In September 2018, President João Lourenço held a meeting with Dikembe Mutombo in New York on the sidelines of the UN Security Council meeting.
Born in 1965, Dikembe Mutombo runs a foundation under his name, which provides assistance to orphaned children, and founded a pediatric hospital in the DRC.
The 2.18 tall, former NBA player began his career of almost two decades in the Denver Nuggets and finished in the Houston Rockets.
He also played for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Atlanta Hawks.
