Bia East fails to elect presiding member for the second time
Accra, Feb. 5, GNA – The Bia East District Assembly in the Western North Region has, for the second time, failed to elect a presiding member.
A total of eleven assembly members and five government appointees took part in the election, supervised by the Electoral Commission.
It was contested by Mr Simon Domekyile, the Bia East District NABCO Coordinator and a Government Appointee, and MR Peter Doe, a Teacher and Assembly Member of Asemyinakrom Electoral Area.
Mr Domekyile polled 10 votes for both rounds of voting, while Mr Doe secured six votes, with one rejected ballot.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after the voting, Mr Richard Chebure, the District Chief Executive, who expressed disappointment about the development, called on the Assembly-members to bury their differences and unite to help bring progress to the District.
