TUBMANBURG, Jan. 16 (LINA) – Bomi County citizens have reached an agreement to construct a mini-sports stadium in Tubmanburg City from the County Development Fund that has been allotted to the county by national government.

Speaking at a one-day county sitting in Bomi County at the weekend, citizens representing the five districts said they have observed that the county’s population comprises mainly youths, and so they want officials to invest fifty percent of the county development fund to the building of a stadium in the county.

« The construction of this stadium will provide job opportunities for citizens and will also create an avenue for income generation for the county, » the citizens said.

Seven persons from each of the five districts in the county served as representatives of their respective areas at the county sitting.

As stated in the budget law of Liberia, the citizens told their lawmakers that the issue of the stadium must be given first priority before the implementation of any other project.

The Bomi County Sitting brought together hundreds of citizens from the five districts in the county along with members of the Bomi Legislative Caucus, local county authorities and eminent citizens residing in the capital Monrovia.
