Praia, Nov 3 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verdean Academy of Letters paid tribute this Friday to the former presidents of that institution, Corsino Fortes, Vera Duarte and David Hopffer Almada with the creation of the “gallery of presidents”, with pictures / profiles of the honorees at their headquarters at Plateau.
The president of the Cabo Verdean Academy of Letters (ACL), Daniel Medina, justified the act as a sign of recognition for the work done for the cause of literature, a tribute that was intended to be paid in the lives of the honorees, although Corsino Fortes has already passed away.
The Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Abraão Vicente, who chaired the ceremony, highlighted the gesture with the argument that “culture is always a prestigious element” and stated that “it is in culture that Cabo Verde gains its greatest projection , its greatest prestige”.
The minister wants to point out that in any country “only the Academy of Letters is at the top and has all the personal characteristics in the field of culture and literature”, a form found by the minister to highlight the contribution of these laureates in the world of letters .
