Accra, July 4, GNA – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has banned Ghana from taking part in two subsequent U-17 Women’s African qualifiers for age cheating in this year’s Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
The Association also fined Ghana $100,000 for the act.
This was after Morocco protested against Ghana in the last qualifiers that two players of the Black Maidens were ineligible to play.
According to CAF, the ages of Nancy Amoah and Rasheeda Shahadu of the Black Maidens team were false, having been more than the required ages by the association.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association sent a written defence to CAF but it was not considered.
The GFA has three days to indicate its intention to appeal and seven days to send a written statement of Appeal to the CAF Appeals Board.
The Black Maidens missed the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup tournament in India after Morocco eliminated Ghana in the final round of qualification.
