Benin, July 3, 2019 (NAN) – The Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation (CESVO), says it will partner with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in the fight against human trafficking.
Mr Saleh Yakubu, the Executive Director (ED) of the centre, made this disclosure on Wednesday in Benin, South South Nigeria at the presentation of an award by CESVO to the Benin Zonal Command of NAPTIP.
Yakubu said that the zonal command had distinguished itself in the fight against human trafficking, which he said was occasioned by corruption.
According to him, corruption is responsible for the ills of Nigeria; a country, which is destined to be prosperous, but presently lagging behind due to the sleaze and the calibre of the past leaders.
He stressed that CESVO, as a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), recognised hard work and those who believed in ethical standard, hence the award to the zonal command and the zonal commander, Mr Nduka Nwanwenne.
He said that for the nation to flourish, corruption must be terminated.
The ED also disclosed that in the next few months, the centre would train 50 out of the 60 staff of the zonal command on ethics in public service.
According to him, no fewer than 15,000 public servants are presently undergoing the training while 14,000 persons had undergone it in the past.
Responding, Nwanwenne lauded the Centre for the partnership and the award, noting that the achievements by the zonal command was a joint effort by all staff.
He gave assurance that the command would continue to work as a family and urged the staff to redouble their commitment to work.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the award presented to the command was tagged: The Most Highly Sound Ethical Standard Federal MDA and The Most Responsible Ethical Command.
