Praia, Jul 10 (Inforpress) – The “Less Alcohol More Life” campaign, an initiative of the President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, was reinforced with a monetary value of 2.205 million escudos, a donation from the Chinese Embassy in Cabo Verde, in a support for “this important activity”.
In formalizing the donation, the Chinese ambassador accredited to Praia, Du Xiaocong, expressed himself this Wednesday determined to make “an effort to reinforce the promotion of friendship between the two countries”, highlighting the particularity of this presidential initiative.
In turn, the Chief of Staff, Manuel Faustino, responsible for promoting the “Less Alcohol More Life” campaign, highlighted the importance of this donation in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, considering the disease “extremely aggressive” and which is expected to have direct consequences “probably” in the trend of worsening alcohol abuse.
Manuel Faustino believes that the reduction in economic activity, associated with the low income of families, may boost the increase in the abuse of alcoholic beverages, which is why he considered the campaign’s actions to act in prevention to be “extremely important”.
