Praia, Sep 30 (Inforpress) – The President of the Republic, Jorge Carlos Fonseca ,foreseen this Monday that country’s economic and social situation in 2021 will still be “much more difficult” than in 2020, if the current situation is not changed.
The Head of State made this consideration to the press at the end of the Council of the Republic meeting, the President of the Republic political consultation body, which was meeting, for more than six hours to analyze the country’s epidemiological situation, with regard to health, economics and education.
In the second and third part of this meeting, the council heard the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Olavo Correia, about the state of the country’s economy and the Minister of Education, Maritza Rosabal, about the start of the new school year.
In terms of finances, he informed that there is a loss, in 2020, of about 6 billion escudos, which represents 30 percent of the revenues, unemployment is expected to double, the external debt will reach 140% of GDP, which reduces the country’s margin for debt, while the business fabric is “very fragile”.
