Accra, Feb. 1, GNA – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has shut down its head office in Accra for a fumigation exercise to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The office environment was quiet with gates and doors locked when the Ghana News Agency visited the premises Monday morning.
At about 1000 hours, sanitation officers were seen preparing to disinfect the offices and the compound, with security personnel of the Agency turning away visitors and clients.
A statement issued by EPA and copied to GNA asked directed heads of Departments and Units to ensure that staff worked from home during the two-day fumigation period.
It also said management was making the necessary arrangement with accredited laboratories and clinics for all staff to be tested for Covid-19.
The statement entreated all EPA offices across the country to operationalise their respective Covid-19 committees to ensure strict compliance with additional directives.
“This is as a result of the management of EPA’s resolve to continue to create a safe environment amid the Covid-19,” it said.
The EPA Head office is expected to re-open on Thursday, February 4, 2021, after the fumigation exercise.
