Praia, Feb 11 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde will benefit from the European Union of mechanism to facilitate the resale or donation of vaccines against COVID-19 to third countries, in addition to the doses to be purchased through the covax platform, said the ambassador the European Union.
Sofia Moreira de Sousa was speaking on Tuesday in Praia, at the end of a meeting between the ambassadors of the European Union (EU) and the Member States present in Cabo Verde with the Cabo Verdean Minister of Health and Social Security, Arlindo do Rosário, to discuss the challenges in the health sector in general and those caused by the pandemic in particular.
“The European Commission is working on the creation of a European mechanism to facilitate the resale and donation to third countries of vaccines the European Union obtains in the first negotiation with pharmaceutical companies”, he said.
This package, in addition to being aimed at European citizens and residents of the European Union, is also extended to countries in the neighborhood and to countries on the African continent, so, he said, “Cabo Verde can also be and will certainly be covered”.
