  11 Juin      92        Divers (1639),

MONROVIA, June 10 (LINA) – Montserrado County District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah is yet to be forwarded to the Monrovia City Court after being charged by the Liberia National Police (LNP) with terroristic threat, and criminal facilitation.

According to Police investigation, Representative Kolubah allegedly ordered the flogging and torturing of a resident of his district identified as Emmanuel Freeman by his personal bodyguard.

Six suspects were picked up on June 5 following a distress call for victim Freeman who Police respondents met lying under a market stall opposite Rep. Kolubah’s house naked, handcuffed, and with wounds on his head and bruises on his body.

The victim, who was bleeding profusely, was rushed to the John F. Kennedy Hospital for medical treatment.

The six men were on Saturday arraigned before the Monrovia City Court to answer to the charges levied against them.

They were subsequently incarcerated at the Monrovia Central Prison awaiting court trial.

Police preliminary investigation established that a group of men riding on board a white Nissan pick-up belonging to suspect Yekeh Kolubah was seen distributing leaflets and t-shirts about the June 7 protest.

It was further established that victim Freeman was threatened by the suspects for refusing to receive the t-shirts and leaflets on grounds that the financiers of the t-shirts must be part of the protest along with their entire families, something which triggered them to come after him at a liquor shop owned by a lady only identified as Naomi.

Based on the investigative findings coupled with evidences produced during police probe, the LNP charged the six suspects with the commission of the crimes of terrorist threat, criminal facilitation, aggravated assault and felonious restraint, while Rep. Kolubah was charged with terroristic threat, and criminal facilitation.

But Kolubah is yet to be forwarded to court to answer to the charges levied against him.

Those sent to jail are Abu Keita, Oliver C. Konneh, Mohammed A. Kaba, Johnson Kpor, Varmu Kolubah and Mohammed S. Kaba
