Accra, Nov.22, .GNA- The Ashaiman District Court has sentenced an 18-years old driver’s mate to 10 years in prison with hard labour for abetting the stealing of a wallet.
The court presided over by Mr Gabriel Mate-Teye, handed Gameli Tofah the jail term after pleading guilty to the charge of abetment of crime.
Prosecuting, Inspector Nunoo-Mensah told the court that, on October 27, 2018, Tofah who was a driver’s mate, aided his friend one Kofi who was at large, to snatch a wallet containing an amount of GHS 200.00 from Mr. Isaac Boabeng.
He said they snatched the wallet when the complainant was returning home from a musical concert organized at Sakasaka Park in Ashaiman by the dancehall musical artist, Stonebwoy.
The prosecutor added that the said accomplice Kofi, snatched the wallet from the complainant, gave it to Tofah who maneuvered his way through the crowd and bolted with it.
The facts indicated that the complainant lodged a complaint at the police station leading to his arrest at Ashaiman Valco Flats and subsequently arraigned before the Court.
Inspector Nunoo-Mensah added that his accomplice Kofi was being looked for by the Police to face investigations and prosecution.
