Accra, July 16, GNA – e.TV Ghana, in partnership with Japan Motors, on Tuesday launched and opened registration for the 2019 edition of its Corporate Walk and Run exercise in Accra.
The exercise, scheduled for September 21, aims at promoting healthy lifestyles among staff of corporate institutions by mobilising them to exercise and network for business opportunities.
The exercise, which is the ninth edition, would provide an opportunity for participants, who cannot run the five-kilometre race to walk.
Registration fee for single entry is GHC30.00 while corporate entry for a group of five is GHC300.00 and registration centres include e.TV Ghana and Happy FM – Asylum Down, Silver Star Tower – Airport City, and YFM at the Accra Mall.
Winners of the event would receive awards, including trophies, medals, motorcycles and generators under categories such as fastest three men and women, fastest top three Chief Executive Officers, fastest Managers, and fastest Entrepreneurs.
Mr Salah Kwaku Kalmoni, the Event Director of Corporate Run, said the race would start at 0600 hours from the Silver Star Tower, Airport through to 37, to El-Wak traffic light, and back to the Airport.
Other activities to be held on the day include a dancing competition and a VIP breakfast.
Mr Kalmoni said the event would enable staff of corporate institutions to exercise and stay fit and healthy, as they barely had time to indulge in keep fit activities due to their busy schedules.
Five hundred participants are expected to take part in the exercise, he said, adding that, ambulance services would be provided at the starting point and will be with the participants throughout to provide emergency services as they walk and run.
Mrs Nosisa Doe, the Programmes Manager of e-TV Ghana, said: “the Corporate Run is nine this year, so those who have never participated in it should come on board on September 21, to exercise with their colleagues and other corporate institutions to gain inspiration and motivation to improve on their overall health by remaining active.’’
She said an amount of GHC7.00 would be deducted from each registration and later donated to the Ghana Blind Union to support them with some basic needs.
She, therefore, called on all corporate institutions to register their members to take part in the exercise to enable them to raise enough amount to support the Union.
Mrs Mabel Offei, the Sales Manager of Yamaha, Japan Motors Trading Company Limited, said the company was pleased to support the event to contribute their quota to health promotion.
She said they were offering the best runners with Yamaha Motorcycles and Generators and urged other corporate entities to sponsor the event to create doors for bigger market targets.
Mr Bismarck Amoh, the Project Coordinator, in Charge of Inclusion, Ghana Blind Union, expressed gratitude to the organisers for supporting the Union for many years.
He said they were grateful that the Union had been included in the Corporate Run since its inception.
“e.TV Ghana and Japan Motors have for nine years made us a part of Corporate Run and we are grateful. Inclusion is not only about money, it is about giving people like us an opportunity to be part of activities in society and these two organisations have given us that’’ he said.
