Accra, Nov. 16, GNA – Asante Kotoko were held to 1-1 draw by Eleven Wonders at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Kwame Poku was on target for the Porcupine Warriors whilst Prince Okraku pulled parity for the away side.
Eleven Wonders started the game on the front foot creating decent chances and could have taken the lead in the third minute but Felix Akorlor’s strike was superbly saved by Kotoko goalkeeper Felix Annan.
Kotoko were struggling to put some decent passes together and were lucky not to fall behind halfway through the first half as Wonders winger Abdul Zakaria shockingly missed from close range.
Kotoko nearly took the lead against the run of play after a defensive lapse but Wonders goalkeeper John Moosie produced a brilliant save to deny Kotoko the opener.
Despite their brilliance upfront the Wonders defence was shaky as they presented a good opportunity to Kotoko’s playmaker Augustine Okrah but his shot on goal skewed narrowly wide.
Kotoko responded very well in the late stages of the first half with some good attacking play but couldn’t take the lead as the first half ended scoreless.
Kotoko started the second half fired up with some early attacking intent.
Kotoko took the lead in the 54th minute after a defensive mix up as Kwame Poku bounced and struck home for the Porcupine Warriors.
Eleven Wonders nearly back immediately but a wonderful save by goalkeeper Felix Annan kept Kotoko’s lead intact.
Kwame Poku nearly doubled the lead for Kotoko in the 68th minute but his effort at goal was feeble and safely gathered by John Moosie.
Prince Okraku pulled parity for the away side in the 75th minute when he lashed onto a cross from Ibrahim Salifu.
The game saw some entertaining attacking with both sides searching for the lead.
But both sides held on to their solitary strikes and shared the points.
