Fallah Bags Major Endorsement In Senate Bid, Supports Death Penalty For Rapists

MONROVIA, Aug. 11 (LINA) – Montserrado County District #5 Representative, Thomas P. Fallah, has obtained a major support in his Senatorial bid for Montserrado County come December 8, 2020, as he supports death penalty for rape perpetrators in the country.

Rep. Fallah was endorsed on Tuesday by a young and astute influential political actor, Marc Jabateh, along with an array of supporters in District #2, Montserrado County following his victory in the CDC Primary.

Speaking at the endorsement program, Rep. Fallah urged voters to elect him based on his track record as it relates to his accomplishments in Montserrado County and the country at large.

The District #5 lawmaker reflected that he has been elected for three consecutive terms in the House of Representatives, which speaks volumes about the relationship he shares with his people.

He called on the electorates not to vote politicians based on promises, but rather on the basis of merit where the lives of the people are impacted positively for the betterment of the Liberian society.

Fallah called on his endorser, Marc Jabateh, to maintain his political force exhibited few years ago when he was in the opposition, citing: “The force you had few years ago I want you to come out with similar force, similar strength, and similar political views to make sure that we defend and protect this Government, to defend our President that we once stood with. Today they will vilify you; today they will discuss you negatively, but Marc this is your home “.

The District #5 lawmaker assured the public that Marc Jabateh has once again become the property of the Coalition for Democratic Change, stating: “If you touch Marc you touch the people’s popular movement and that movement is the Coalition for Democratic Change. So Marc fears none, don’t do anything wrong, don’t hurt nobody, and don’t fight nobody. It is your right to disengage and engage.”

Fallah called on his supporters not to get involved with violence on grounds that the CDC doesn’t believe in violence.

“As a candidate on the CDC ticket, I want to use this medium to call on all the partisans, supporters, sympathizers and well-wishers please do not get involved with violence. When the election time comes we will campaign peacefully and win on the basis of what we do for our people,” Fallah admonished his supporters.

Meanwhile, Fallah has expressed support for the enactment of death penalty legislation for culprits of rape as a means of reducing and subsequently eradicating the menace from the borders of Liberia.

“Rape is causing problem in our nation. Rape is becoming very serious, so please protect our girl child. I have three girls and I love them all. Whenever I hear about rape it touches me. So to our mothers, please protect our girl children,” Rep. Fallah pleaded with Liberian mothers.

The Montserrado County Senatorial hopeful lamented that rape is destroying the fabric of the Liberian society, noting that CDC believes in non-violence at all levels of life.

“Any man that will rape a teenager, that man doesn’t deserve to live and as we enforce that law the penalty needs to change. If you rape and it is proven that you rape that means it is a death sentence. Because there is no reason why a man should rape someone who is five years of age that means you don’t need to live,” Fallah emphasized.

He promised the electorates that he will ensure that death penalty is enacted for rape culprits in the next three to five months at the National Legislature.

It can be recalled that recently the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia, Major General Prince C. Johnson, recommended the death penalty for rape perpetrators which was re-echoed by Liberia’s 173 Independence Day Orator Pastor Simeon Dunbar.

In related development, President George M. Weah indicated that whatever prescribed punishment comes from the National Legislature as a means of curtailing rape in Liberia will subsequently be endorsed by him.
