Federal University Gusau seeks local, international partnerships

Abuja, Feb. 7, 2019 (NAN) The Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) has reiterated its commitment to collaborate with both local and international organizations for the development of the institution.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Yahaya Zakari stated this in Gusau, Southwest Nigeria on Thursday at a seminar organised for the staff and students of the University.

NAN reports that the seminar was organised by the International Institute for Islamic Thoughts (IIIT) in collaboration with the university management, under the theme: ‘Integration of Knowledge.’

Zakari expressed the readiness of the University to collaborate with other institutions, especially those with scholarly objectives, in developing its staff and students especially institutions with similar objectives.

Zakari, who was represented by the University’s Librarian, Dr Aliyu Gadanga, commended the IIIT for organising the seminar, describing the partnership as a welcome development.

He urged the participants to make the best use of the opportunity provided by the conference in order to benefit from the lessons of the presentations during the seminar.

The National Coordinator of the IIIT and Dean School for Continuing Education, Bayero University Kano, Prof Salihu Shehu, said the seminar was organised to educate the university community on importance of seeking knowledge.

NAN reports that various papers were presented at the seminar including ‘Addressing Educational Challenges in the Muslim World’ and ‘Education in West African Muslim Societies and it’s implication for Peace building and Youth Development’.

Other lecture delivered at the occasion was, ‘Benefits of the Integration of Knowledge’. (NAN)
