São Filipe, Nov 12 (Inforpress) – The Fogo Island will host the tenth meeting of the Ministers of Tourism of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (CPLP) from 13th to 15th, following up the meeting held in 2017 in Brazil.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Tourism, the CPLP Tourism Ministers’ meeting will focus on the challenges and opportunities of the “huge potential” that tourism holds in the CPLP space and which “strategically” should “promote, streamline and exploit sustainably ”.
The meeting, which will be held in the city of São Filipe, on the 15th, is preceded by the 6th CPLP Tourism Focal Point Meeting, scheduled for the 13th and 14th, and its opening is chaired by the Minister of Tourism and Transport of Cabo Verde, José da Silva Gonçalves.
The choice of Fogo Island to host this CPLP event, according to the same source, is in line with what is established in the 2017-2021 Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development (PEDS) and in the fulfillment of its first structuring objective, which is to “make Cabo Verde a circulating economy located in the Middle Atlantic”.
