Accra , Dec 25 (GNA) – The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority(GCAA), on Wednesday presented an Aerodrome Operating Certificate to the Ghana Airports Company Limited(GACL).

The presentation certifies that the Kotoka International Airport(KIA) has been audited and found to be compliant with the GCAA, and the International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO) requirements.

Mr. Charles Asare, Managing Director of the GACL, received the certificate and said the KIA had demonstrated high standards across all aspects of airport operations including construction of new airside infrastructure such as Taxiways, Runway Touch down Zones and Aeronautical Ground lighting system.

He noted that the GACL played a key role towards achieving the vision of the Government to make Ghana the preferred gateway to West Africa.

“We will continue to commit ourselves to safety and security to justify this award,” Mr. Asare said.

He expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Transport, the GCAA and the Government of Ghana for their support.

Mr. Simon Allotey, Director General of the GCAA, who presented the certificate to Mr. Asare, congratulated the Management and Staff of the GACL for their achievement.

“Mr. Asare, we appreciate your commitment and support for the entire certification process. I wish to congratulate the management and staff of the GACL and GCAA, particularly the Safety Regulation Department for their Support.”
