Accra, April. 27, GNA – The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and National Lottery Authority (NLA), pursuant to Section 5 of the Revenue Administration Act, 2016(Act 915), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to improve government revenue mobilization.

The collaboration, which would be beneficial to both parties and the Central Government would generate revenue for the Consolidated Fund for national development.

The collaboration would also increase the visibility, availability and accessibility of the GRA and NLA services across the country mainly through the platform of NLA-Private Sector led Solar-powered E-Kiosks.
A Statement signed by the Public Affairs Department of the NLA and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said the two institutions would organize training programmes aimed at developing and empowering recruits of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) and ensure the deployment and monitoring of the NABCO beneficiaries to undertake TIN Registration exercises in order to broaden the tax base.
The statement said the collaboration would ensure the implementation of Voluntary Tax Compliance especially in the informal sector of the economy and collectively use the NLA e-Kiosks and lottery to enhance Value Added Tax penetration across the country.
It said the solar-powered e-Kiosks would be used for the registration of new taxpayers, receive completion of tax returns and ensure verification of tax clearance certificate that would help GRA and NLA to promote and strengthen the provision of digital services as well as the overall digitalization of the Ghanaian economy.
The statement said the collaboration between the two institutions would help to maximize revenue mobilization and create unprecedented jobs in Ghana especially for the Youth.
It said both GRA and NLA were mandated by Acts of Parliament to mobilize revenue for government towards national development.

The statement said, the MoU between the two institutions, would help create an enabling environment for the realization of President Akufo-Addo’s vision of Ghana Beyond Aid Agenda.

It said the agreement would equally propel the country into a Cash Lite Society.

The NLA was established under Act 722 as the sole body responsible for the regulation, supervision, conduct and management of lotto and lotteries in Ghana whilst the GRA was established under Act 791 as a semi-autonomous body responsible for collecting, assessing and accounting for tax revenues
