Accra, Aug. 12, 2018 (GNA) – CLOUDY, an iconic Japanese company, has pledged support towards Para sports in Ghana ahead of the 2020 Paralympic Games, to be held in Toyko.
The plight of para athletes in Ghana is very disturbing phenomenon as most them are left to finance their qualification to major international competitions, though they have won medals.
But, CLOUDY, has made it their priority to support disability sports in the West African sub region especially in Ghana, having demonstrated their prowess in disability sports over the past few years.
Madam Yumiko Torii, the Director of CLOUDY, in a close door meeting with the technical director of Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF), said they were ready to support team Ghana to make an impact in upcoming Paralympics in Toyko.
Sabhan Mohammed, who is expected to cordinate activities to help CLOUDY achieve its objective of supporting parasports, hinted at the readiness of some disciplines who are bound to qualify for the Tokyo Games.
Amongst such disciplines were Cycling,  and Tandem road and track both males and female’s, Powerlifting both male’s and female’s, Athletics, Para high jump, Javelin  and triathlon.
The collaboration would be between the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) and the Japanese company has come at the right time as Ghana is seeking to make an impact on the medal table in 2020.
Ghana has been ever present in various past Paralympics making strides in various sports discipline, but yet to win it’s first medal.
