Accra, Nov. 11, GNA- Desiree Ellis, head coach of the female national football team of South Africa, Bayana Bayana, has said, her team is focused and ready for the 2018 African Women’s Cup (AWCON), despites losing their final international friendly to the Black Queens of Ghana by a lone goal.
According to Ellis, there was no need for her team to feel down hearted since the tournament had some few more days to start adding that, it was a good test for her team, as they seek to qualify for the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Women’s World Cup in France 2019.
« Our spirits are still high, despite losing to Ghana, it was a good test for us as we also seek to acclimatize with the weather.
« We are going to improve as the days go by before the start of the tournament, we would up our game and we are ready for the intensity of the tournament next week ».
South Africa, who are housed in Group B and would open their 11th Biennial tournament with Nigeria on 18th November, 2018 at the Cape Coast Sports stadium before taking on Equatorial Guinea and Zambia on 21st and 24th November respectively.
