Accra, July 17, GNA – The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has been certified by the Certification Group-UK,
The certification follows a two week audit which was undertaken on GMet and validates the fact that GMet is compliant with the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015.
Mr. Dean Moriarty, Lead Auditor from the International Register of Certificated Auditors who undertook the audit, praised the management and staff of GMet for a good job done.
« You are doing the right job. You have well trained staff and good equipment, and the audit has gone very well, » he said.
Mr. Moriarty urged the management and staff of GMet to continue working hard, towards upholding the impressive standards the Agency had achieved.
Dr. Michael Tanu, Director General of the GMet, said the Agency strived to become one of the best within the sub-region.
He said an efficient meteorological agency complimented aviation safety, which made the certification of high significance to the President’s vision of making Ghana an aviation hub.
Dr. Tanu said the certification strengthened the fact that air travel to Ghana was safe, because weather conditions, a crucial factor to aviation safety, could efficiently be determined.
He said whilst the GMet had always worked and lived up to the required standards, the certification further enhanced the Agency’s image both locally and globally, and also reaffirmed the confidence of the global community in Ghana’s Aviation industry.
Dr. Tanu said it was the aim of GMet to continue with the hard work, and ensure that the Agency always performed up to the right standards.
The GMet exists to provide reliable meteorological information to a variety of end users.
