Praia, Oct 19 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Infrastructure, Land Planning and Housing, Eunice Silva stated that the country is facing some challenges, including the impact on the social and economic health due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Eunice Silva made these considerations when co-chairing the ceremony to World Food Day, which is celebrated this Friday, 16th, under the theme “Grow, nourish, sustain. Together. Our actions are our future”.
In her intervention, the minister stated that the country has been registering “progressive gains” in terms of food and nutritional security, according to her, thanks to the implementation of assertive strategic policies combined with fruitful cooperation established with other countries and international organizations, in particular the FAO .
However, she admitted that Cabo Verde faces some challenges, namely the impact on social and economic health due to COVID-19 pandemic, the sustainability of agricultural production, the increase in access and consumption of fish by the most vulnerable populations, in the production of sustainable food systems and healthy diets, in the institutionalization of nutritional food education.
