BARCLAYVILLE, March 27 (LINA) – The Grand Kru Business Association (GKBA) has donated hand- washing materials to the local office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) as its contribution to the fight against the coronavirus.
The items include 100 hand-washing buckets, soap, 60 pieces of faucets and other sanitary materials that were received by the County Superintendent’s office, represented by the County Inspector, Jocab Karmbor Weah.
The donation was made in Barclayville by the business community on Thursday March 26, and the value of the items donated was put at L$100,000 by the donors.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, GKBA resident Prince Polee said it was the group’s support to preventing the virus from entering the county and to address some of the challenges faced by the MIA and the County Health Team in empowering citizens to stick to the preventive measures instituted by health experts in the country.
“It is a collective effort and as such we will work with all relevant agencies to help in the process of combating the virus,” Mr. Polee noted.
He said it was time through a more robust and collaborative manner to intensify awareness to contain the outbreak of the deadly virus from spreading.
The GKBA official encouraged authorities of MIA to ensure that the items donated be placed at strategic areas, emphasizing on checkpoints and the most needed people and communities.
Receiving the items, County Inspector Jacob Karmbor Weah lauded the effort of the business community which, he noted, was timely and meaningful to the Government and people for the current awareness exercise against the spread of the coronavirus.
Currently, he stressed that since the launch of the “Preventive Measures on COVID -19” weeks ago, the county administration has received an overwhelming cooperation from the public which, he added, is “commendable.”
“We appreciate everyone for following the preventive measures as we urge you to continue the process,” Mr. Weah told citizens.
He has promised to place the materials in strategic areas to ensure people make maximum use of the hand-washing materials.
According to the County Inspector, the superintendent’s office has now re-enforced its awareness exercise in various communities with a focus on encouraging all to comply with the preventive measures.
He said they have a robust task force in various communities and other public places who are spreading the campaign message far and wide, adding that the donation is key in this direction.
