Accra, July 22, GNA- Hajia Rukaya Abubakar alias Hajia Ruky, a Parliamentary Aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Madina Constituency has said she believes in her delegates to elect her to represent Madina.
Filing nomination at the Constituency Office, Hajia Ruky she said: “I believe in my delegates and I believe they can choose me when the time comes”.
She said her nomination had been inspired by the people’s love for her, adding that “They have been with me since I contested in 2012 and they are still with me and calling me to rescue the seat”.
Hajia Ruky said the people know that apart from me, no other person would be accepted to be able to conquer the NPP candidate and she inspires to take the seat for the NDC.
Although a handful followed to the filing, she said “the competition is starting and we are going to see a lot of people behind me and beside this, there is a delegate conference that would be held on August 24.
“The people are very important and if they call and you don’t come, there would be a time that when you call them, they will also not come,” she said, adding that she had to leave all that she was doing in the United State to come down and give the people what they wanted.
She said: “I want to see my people at a level where they can support themselves and even support me so that Madina can get to a level where it is supposed to be”.
Hajia Ruky said “in 2012, we were only two but today we are four people, so that means it is a great thing for Madina because democracy is working.
“I know that there are other candidates and they are qualified and can do something but as a woman and a mother, a sister, and aunty, I know I will be able to provide more support to my people than what others may do,” she said.
She said a constituent since 1996 and being a grassroots person, “knowing people and what they want and knowing what to offer is what I think I can do and that is why I can do”.
Hajia Ruky is in the race with three other men including Mr Sidii Abubakar Musah, Mr Francis Xavier Sosu and Ibrahim Failler Fuseini to contest for the Parliamentary seat for the NDC.
