‘Karela players are aiming at historical achievement’ – Alagidede

Accra, June 14, GNA- Mr. Eric Alagidede, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Karela United Football Club has said, his side is poised for action in their game against Ashgold, as they seek for their first major trophy in the club’s history.

Karela United would play away to Ashantigold in the semi-finals of the Normalization Committee (NC) Special Competition Tier One at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Speaking in an interview with GNA Sports, the PRO said; “the boys are focused and well determined to make history by becoming the first set of players to win a major trophy for this young club”.

He refuted media reports that, the players wanted to boycott the game because of unpaid salaries.
“All those report circulating is not true and we feel that people want to distract us with the intention of creating problems, but we are well focused and prepared to win this crucial semi-final clash”, he said.

“Our target was to reach the semi-finals of the competition and we are in the semi-finals, so we want to move a step beyond the semi-finals. When we qualify to the finals and we win, then we will see if we can go to Africa”, he added.
Mr. Alagidede commended the supporters of Karela United for their unflinching support adding that, the supporters were the backbone the of club’s recent success.

The other semifinal clash would be played on the same day at the Accra Sports Stadium with Accra Hearts of Oak hosting Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
