MONROVIA, August 8 (LINA) – Health Minister Dr. Bernice Dahn has said Liberia appreciates the renewed global commitment that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) bring to the health sector.

According to Minister Dahn, Goal #3 of the SDGs contains « Good Health and Well-being which is guided by the target Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and this means people and communities have access to the needed quality services without the risk of financial hardship. »

Health Minister Dahn expressed the appreciation Tuesday in her statement at the start of a three-day National Health Financing Conference held at the Monrovia City Hall.

She indicated that the SDGs present the opportunity for Liberians to further focus on the health system that delivers integrated people-centered services.

She pointed out that as Liberia transitions from post-Ebola recovery, the country’s focus has been building a resilient healthcare delivery system.

Minister Dahn stressed that these are systems that contribute to the achievement of health outcomes, optimizing the delivery of quality services towards UHC and reducing risks due to epidemics and other health risks.
