Accra, April 18 (GNA) – The Accra Gye Nyame Lions Club, a voluntary service club, in collaboration with EPP Books Services, has donated a variety of books to the Ngleshie Amanfro Community Library to boost reading among school children.

The donation included a set of Encyclopaedia Americana, dictionaries, story books, textbooks and Flash cards to cater for the reading needs of pupils and students.

Mr Victor Nyadu, President of the Club, said the donation was part of the club’s efforts to help the children improve their academic performance.

He said the Club would continue to support the community when the need arises adding that the necessary steps would be taken to refurbish the library.

Mr Nyadu said it was their hope that the children will make excellent use of the material not only boost their studies but also inculcate a culture of reading.

He announced that the club will soon begin a « Reading Action Programme » with the children.

Madam Emma Quansah, the District Circuit Coordinator, expressed her gratitude for the donation saying more of such donations are needed by the library.
