Monrovia, January 29 (LINA) – The President of the Liberia Marketing Association (LUSU), Lusu Sloan, is calling on female lawmakers to demonstrate the kind of unity that will pave the way for the election of more women in the National Legislature.
Speaking to a team of journalists in Monrovia Thursday, Madam Sloan said: « We want them to show us examples that will encourage us to vote for more women. »
She told journalists that market women fully support the stand of women, stressing that all marketers need is sensitization and awareness on what women want them to do.
« Gone are the days when women were considered properties of men, denied their basic rights, including education, noting that women are pleased with the widespread awareness that supports the education of women, particularly when it is said: :When you educate a women, you educate a nation’. »
Meanwhile, Madam Sloan has indicated a shortage of locally produced commodities on the Liberian market.
According to the LMA president, greens, fresh pepper, bitter balls, and many other commodities are short on the market due to the dry season.
She noted that this shortage is contributing to the increase in the prices of the commodities.
