Tarkwa (W/R), Dec. 10, GNA – As part of its cooperate social responsibility, MAXMASS, a local contractor of AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Gold Mines, has donated 120 pieces of mono desks to the Tarkwa Senior High School in the Western Region.
The presentation was done in collaboration with AAI Gold Mines.
Mr Emmanuel Baidoo, the Senior Sustainability Manager of AAI Gold Mines, said the donation was in response to a request made by the school to support them with furniture to reduce the pressure on the school as a result of the Free Senior High School programme which has increased enrolment.
He said because MAXMASS has a programme which aligns with their social investment strategy, so the collaborated to assist then school.
Mr Baidoo commended the efforts of MAXMASS and congratulated them for being the best mining contractor in Ghana for the year 2018 by the Ghana Mining Industry Awards.
Presenting the items, Mr. Joseph Amankatah, Project Manager of MAXMASS, expressed appreciation to AngloGold for giving them part of their business to manage « l must say if not because of them we will not be making money to make such a gesture so AngloGold, we thank you for the mentoring and coaching we are receiving from you ».
He called on the students to take advantage of the Free Senior High School programme and study seriously to become better future leaders.
Mr Gordon Opoku Boateng, Assistant Headmaster of Tarkwa Senior High School, who received the desks, said the AAI Gold Mines had already donated 100 pieces of plastic chairs to the school.
He thanked AAI Gold Mines and MAXMASS for their goodwill, adding that, the donation would go a long way to enhance teaching and learning in the school.
