Accra, July 20, GNA – Mr Haruna Iddrisu, Member of Parliament for Tamale South, has submitted his nomination forms to the Constituency Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) satisfying requirements to contest the parliamentary primaries of the party in the constituency.
He presented a banker’s draft of GHC 20,000.00 and filled nomination forms to the Tamale South Constituency Executives at the constituency office of the NDC at Lamashegu, a suburb of Tamale, on Thursday to satisfy requirements to contest in the parliamentary primaries of the party.
Mr Iddrisu, who is also Minority Leader in Parliament, by successfully filing his nomination forms, is therefore, relishing a fifth term in the country’s Legislature, and he is standing unopposed as he is the only person, who picked nomination forms to contest the parliamentary primaries in the constituency.
Addressing journalists after submitting his nomination forms, Mr Iddrisu expressed gratitude to his constituents for their trust and confidence in him by endorsing his fifth term parliamentary bid assuring that he would continue to work to address the challenges of the area.
He called on the National Executives and Constituency Executives of the NDC to religiously enforce the guidelines regarding the party’s parliamentary primaries to ensure fairness to all candidates.
Mr Iddrisu said the NDC was working hard in the region to ensure that it regained all the seats it lost in the region including Nanton, Savelugu, Kpandai and Wulensi and regain others such as Bimbilla to stretch its political command over the region.
Mr Mutawakilu Yahaya, Elections Director, Tamale South Constituency of NDC, who received the banker’s draft and the nomination forms from Mr Iddrisu, said the forms would be forwarded to the Regional Executives for necessary action to be taken on them.
