Suhum (E/R), Oct. 14, GNA – Police Superintendent Joseph Owusu, Suhum Municipal Commander of the Ghana Police Service, has identified the major causes of moral decline, as the numerous acts of indiscipline that has engulfed almost every sphere of our lives.
That: « We live in an era where moral values have broken down and crime is committed by young people », he stated.
The Commander was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after addressing a programme marking the Silver Jubilee of over 1,600 members of the Eastern Region sector of the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA) at Suhum.
He pointed out that robbery was on the increase, while prostitution, internet fraud and occultism were all gaining roots in the Suhum community, and called on parents to serve as role models and inculcate moral values in their children.
Superintendent Owusu urged the youth, especially those learning trade to be law-abiding and desist from causing troubles otherwise, they would be branded as agents of destruction.
He also advised apprentices in tailoring to lead the campaign against indiscipline, so as to restore sanity and dignity into their profession.
He urged parents and guardians to be good friends of their children, by assisting them in their quest for good education.
The Commander entreated teachers and parents to develop in children, the values of integrity, honesty, respect for others and hard work, and advised children to be obedient and respectful to their parents, guardians and all people they meet.
