Akim Manso (E/R), Dec. 15, GNA – The Muslim communities in the Asene Manso Akroso District have installed Imam Zaid Zuberu as the District Chief Imam; and Imam Aliu Ahmed Rufai as the Deputy Chief Imam respectively.
The ceremony was performed by Alhaji Alhassan, the Lower West Akyem Municipal Chief Imam and Imam Jirjees Yahaya respectively at Akim Manso in the Eastern Region.
Obrempon Sintim Opoku III, the chief of Akyem Manso, who chaired the function, called on the newly installed Imams to work in unity with their members to improve the living conditions of their communities.
He said together with his elders they have decided to offer the Muslim communities a piece of land for the establishment of Islamic Basic School.
Mr Abubakar Boniface Siddique, the Minister of Inner Cities and Zongo Development, advised the Muslim youth to avoid politics of violence and tolerate each other’s views because politics is a contest of ideas.
Imam Aliu Ahmed, the newly installed Deputy District Chief Imam in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, expressed gratitude to Obrempon Opoku and his elders for the offer of the land for the school project.
