Praia, Jan 18 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Communities and Minister of Defense, Rui Figueiredo, sworn in Friday, said he will continue the process to opening Cabo Verde’s embassies in Guinea Bissau and ECOWAS.
Rui Figueiredo, replaces Luís Filipe Tavares, who resigned following the controversy over the appointment of Portuguese businessman Caesar DePaço as Cabo Verdean consul in Florida, appointed in a report by Portuguese private television SIC, as sponsor of Chega, with links to the right-wing extremist party, he stressed that the Government had already been working on this dossier.
“We have this goal now in the final part of the legislature. We are insisting on having these two diplomatic representations that are important, and in Guinea-Bissau, taking into account our old relations with the brother country, it makes perfect sense, ”he said.
He added that in Nigeria the embassy will have this important role in the country itself, but also in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), which will be “very important” for the effective integration of Cabo Verde in the community.
