Zanlerigu (UE), April 10, GNA – Mr Lamtiig Apanga, a Legal Practitioner based in Accra has formed a movement known as “Lamtiig Apanga Initiative against Coronavirus”, to mobilize support to complement government’s efforts at fighting COVID-19.
As part of its activities, the movement donated hygiene materials and equipment to some Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compounds, the District Police Command, the Regional Information Services Department, persons with disabilities as well as some members of the communities in the Nabdam District, Upper East Region.
The items included alcoholic-based hand sanitizers, Veronica buckets, nose masks, hand gloves, soap and educational materials.
Mr Apanga, who is a native of Zanlerigu-Gane in the District, explained that the Movement had support from friends who wanted to complement government’s efforts at curbing the spread of the pandemic.
Mr Apanga stated that plans were far advanced to mobilize more resources to expand the programme to reach all communities across the Region, in its second phase.
Apart from urging Ghanaians to strictly adhere to precautionary measures and protocols to fight the spread of the pandemic, the Legal Practitioner and his team further collaborated with the Regional Information Service Department by providing it with resources to undertake public education on Coronavirus in the communities in the District.
All the heads of the health facilities in the District that received the items commended the Legal Practitioner and his team for the kind gesture and appealed to others to do same to help deal with the situation.
Ms Eunice Agolmah, a Community Health Nurse at the Gane-Songe CHPS compound, expressed gratitude for the donation and said the items would augment the little the facility had.
